At Oasis Smiles Dental, our emergency dentist emphasises reducing pain and promptly treating oral health concerns. Dental emergencies can be distressing for many patients, which is why we would like to assure you that Dr Daniel Raditaolana is here to help, with same-day emergency appointments.
Here are some other tips for what to do if you are experiencing a dental emergency.
A Knocked-Out Tooth
If your tooth has been knocked out, only pick it up by the crown. Please be careful not to touch its root (the bottom part that fits in your gums). Because teeth need constant moisture, one mustn’t handle the dislodged tooth with gauze or cloth of any kind. This can dry out the tooth and leave it unusable.
Rinse the tooth in water if it’s dirty and either try to reinsert it in its socket or store it in a glass of milk or your saliva. You may also consider placing it against the inside of your cheek to keep it moist.
Though it’s best to see the dentist within 30 minutes if you have a knocked-out tooth, it’s still possible to save a tooth that’s been outside of the mouth for an hour or more.
Consistent or Severe Tooth Pain
At Oasis Smiles Dental, we consider tooth pain an urgent situation. Tooth pain can signal other issues are occurring, and we like to see patients immediately to diagnose and treat the concern.
Lost or Broken Restoration
A lost or damaged dental restoration can be uncomfortable and concerning. If this happens to you, we recommend coming to our dental office as soon as possible. We can quickly repair or replace the restoration for you.
Broken or Chipped Tooth in Tamworth
We suggest finding any broken pieces and carefully rinsing the mouth with warm water to care for a broken or chipped tooth. Using a cold compress can also help alleviate some pain and swelling until you get to our dental clinic.
